Core i7s released…what was that blur?
As many of you may know by this time, the Intel Core i7 processors were released this week. All benchmarks so far say that they are blazing fast compared to the q9XXX series of Core 2 processors. With an average four cores, it may not seem so special in a headline comparison - but if you take some time to review its new FSB replacement, its on-board DDR3 memory controller, or the re-implementation of hyperthreading (allowing eight logical cores and thus eight simultaneous threads), you’ll really see that the new architecture is doing a lot for speed, reliability, and optimization (not to mention SSE4 instructions, which are in all 45nm chips).
